“small group is definitely the way to go”

Phillip our tour guide was excellent and very knowledgeable, had excellent insights in too the inner workings of Windmills and their place in Modern Netherlands, we also spent time at small shop where they produced cheese and wooden shoes, and before returning to Amsterdam we made a stop at a Quaint little seaside village on Monnockburn to explore, a small group is definitely the way to go.

A super day led by EXCELLENT guide Rose! It was great to see so many cute and thriving Dutch villages on a single tour. The vehicle was a tad cramped for our group of eight, but all of the drives were short so not a problem. Rose gave detailed and helpful guidance at every stop, then we had free time to eat, shop and/or explore. The meeting place for starting the tour was well-chosen, and provided a scenic beginning to a very scenic and thoroughly Dutch day.

We took this tour on Wednesday August 15th. Our tour guide, who has previously worked in a saw mill and had great insight, was fabulous and fun the whole time. He was very spontaneous and friendly, and we’re so glad he took us to the Edam Market, instead of the cheese factory, as we were more interested in experiencing the culture and the surrounding beauty. I highly recommend this kind of tour and guidance for their flexibility and for a more personable experience!

Rose, our host and guide, was great! She gave us plenty of time to wander around Zaanse Schans and Volendam, and had tons of great information on the places! We also stopped at a place that made cheese and wooden shoes, which was a pleasant addition to the tour. I wish it could have gone on longer! I must also commend the tour operators for picking an easy and obvious meet up point I missed out on two other tours I signed up for because the meet up location wasn’t clearly defined.

Great small group tour with a very nice and informative tour guide Jan. Enjoyed the sights. I would have liked more time in Monnickendam and a little less time wandering through Broek Waterland homes. They were lovely but felt too much time spent there.

“This is a great tour and I definitely recommend it!
Very nice tour and cool experience to see the windmills, the town Volendam and other cool cities along the way! Can you say Kippling, yum yum fish there, good stuff we had for lunch in Volendam while visiting the area. I really enjoyed seeing the windmills, very tourist spot of many folks being bused in. The tour bus had 6-8 folks in it and it was three buses and your own tour guide, driver gave you background at each stopping point. This is a great tour and I definitely recommend it! I happen to do it on a beautiful day weather wise, great day for a tour!

“Thank you”
A lovely day spent exploring and experiencing the Dutch culture and countryside. We only had 4 people on our tour 2 mother/daughter couples …with both mothers being ‘older’ and our guides were wonderful. They were knowledgable and considerate of ‘the mothers’ and were happy to go at their pace ensuring they kept up and were able to enjoy the sights and surrounding. Thank youYoung was our guide. He knew some excellent history and it was a beautiful day as well. Totally recommend this tour

“Kudos to him and his company !!!”
We had an excellent guide from ExperienceWaterLand by the name of Teun de Weijer. He was very knowledgeable with the history and other important facts of the villages we visited. I was traveling with my sister who sprained her ankle the day before this tour. While on this tour it somewhat aggravated her condition because of the walking. Teun went out of his way to look for an ace bandage to help alleviate my sister condition. In my opinion, that was way and above what he was supposed to do. Kudos to him and his company !!! I definitely will recommend this tour to those who wants to see the country side of Netherlands.

“Two thumbs Up !! Skol !”
We had a great small group tour with our guide Roxanne. The meeting point was very close to the Central Train Station a short free ferry boat ride across the water. Free is good. The ferry boat was kind of fun in that we got to experience how locals commute across this water from newer residential area to the old part of Amsterdam.
After meeting Roxanne, we were a group total of 5, we were off to look at windmills, see how they work, go to a cheese farm and learn about the cheese making process and sample some delicious Gouda and other local cheese. At this same spot we also saw a demonstration on how wooden clogs are made from a block of wood. Sorry, for those of you who were expecting to see a character that looks like Gepeto with a hammer and chisel, it is not so romantic, the clogs are made with machines and lathes
Next, Vollendam, for a short lunch break and a walk in this old port city, the East India Trading Company used this place as a staging area. Pretty much designed for tourists with some good local snacks, try the Raw Herring with onions.
Finally we ended in a small town, on our way back to Amsterdam for a quiet walk and a chance to sample some local Schnapps, ask for a second gulp of the Schipper Bitters, a spicy concoction good for warming the bones on a chilly afternoon.
The guide Roxanne was fun, engaging and quick to respond to any and all questions, she made the afternoon a good experience.
It was good to get outside of the Old part of Amsterdam and afterall, if you are visiting the Netherlands, you must visit some working windmills.
Two thumbs Up !! Skol !!

“Small group of 8”
Comfortable ride. Small group of 8. Knowledgeable guide. Could use more time for windmill viewing, toilet use, and lunch. I enjoyed the excursion. Able to experience multiple venues with little effort. Will use experiencewaterland again.

“Worth a trip out of the city”
Our tour guide was SOOo fun-Roxanne..she really made the day. It was fun to get out of the city and see some of the Amsterdam countryside..but a very touristy day-the sights we visited were geared towards busses in, busses out..shopping. We did not mind as it was off season so the crowds were very small. It was interesting to see a working windmill and visit a local cheesemaker. It was fun to let someone else drive and take control of the day, a very relaxing day being a tourist! again, not overwhelmed by what we saw, but our guide was an absolute blast to hang out with all day!

“We would highly recommend this tour with this company”
Being with a small group of people we had only 5, is the best way to enjoy this tour. We were able to see everything and not waste time waiting on people from the group who are late getting back to a large bus. Our guide, Roxanne, from www.wxperiencewaterland.com, was simply the best. She was knowledgeable and a pleasure to spend the day with. We just wished we could have spent more time with her in each place! We would highly recommend this tour with this company and with this guide.

Totally worth the it. small group which i personally love. You’re not in one giant tour bus. They bring you to some of the oldest windmills very cute area-like a tourist road stop. Then to a cheese and shoe mill. Our guide was awesome, can’t recall his name-tall skinny guy with longish blonde hair

I had a fantastic day on this tour. Was a little late because I got on the wrong ferry and the guide was there waiting for me!! The short trip to the windmills was filled with interesting stories and information. The tour was at a good pace with heaps of time for photo’s and taking in the sites.

We had a wonderful day with our tour Guide Jan. He was an informative, personable, relaxed person that went with our flow our pace. The time of year worked in our favor as we were the only people on our tour. the Windmills are beautiful and we loved Volendam. Follow the directions as to where to meet your guide. The ferry you have to take from the train station to where you meet your guide is interesting insight as to how the Dutch commute! Great day overall.

The Zaanse Schans was pleasing to the eyes and has a rich history which is very interesting. It was amazing that a lot of windmills are still functional and not just there for display. The old villages we went to were like a breath of fresh air from hustle and bustle of Amsterdam. We enjoyed waking around the villages and trying some of the delicious food. We also enjoyed buying souvenirs as there were a lot of shops and a wide variety of items. Our guide Apostolis Tol for short was very knowledgeable about the places we went to. He was also very nice and has a good sense of humor. Overall, we had a great time!!! Though, this almost didn’t happen as our guide didn’t show up at the meeting place but he made an effort to contact us if we would still like to do the tour at a later time. We didn’t have anything planned for the afternoon so we were still able to do the tour. Tol was really apologetic for not showing up earlier and he more than made up for it. Just before we went back to Amsterdam, Tol made us try some Schnapps which we also liked. We had a really great time at the tour and we hope more people will go on this tour as well!!!

We had a wonderful time with our guide Teun. He really went the extra mile to engage with the tour group and brought a personal touch to the tour with his humor and friendly approach. The tour itself was very well organised with all pickup instructions and information communicated well in advance. We really enjoyed each of the various stops and found that the tour offered sufficient time to visit each place without feeling rushed. Each of the different locations offer a unique experience with a great mix between the touristy Zaanse Schans Windmills and Volendam, to the more quaint and quiet old villages and scenic routes.

Our tour guide was very informative, courteous, and with a sense of good humour. He was the star of our tour! I prefer small group tours than big buses so if you feel the same way, then I’d very much recommend this. The tour around the old villages is a plus to the already amazing stops at the Zaanse Schans Windmills, Volendam, and the cheese and cloggs place. Take this tour if you only have a few days in Amsterdam but still want to explore the countryside because it only takes less than half a day which leaves you a lot more time to explore the city of AMS! The only reason I’m giving this tour a 4/5 is because the car we used wasn’t really as clean but I’m a bit of a neat freak so it had a big impact on me. If the rating allowed a 4.5, I’d give 4.5!

This tour was exceptional! It was my sister and I’s first time in Amsterdam and we couldn’t have chosen a better tour to explore the villages outside of the city. Our meeting point was at the Cafe, right in front of the ferry station. We stayed in a hotel near the Central Station so to get to the meeting point we had to take the ferry free of charge, to cross the river to get to the Cafe. At the meeting point, our tour guide, Tol I t think it was short for Apostole, was there to greet us. He was friendly, easy going, and on time. Our group was divided into two smaller groups and my sister and I ended up having a private tour ’cause it was just us two with Tol! Lucky us! The drive to the villages wasn’t too long and Tol was an excellent driver- my sister and I felt safe.
We really enjoyed the windmills, which were amazing to see in person. We learned about the history of it and how they work. And there’s so many photo ops so be sure to get your camera ready! For an extra 4 euros, we were able to climb one of the windmills on to the first deck. Be careful though because the steps on the ladders were steep and you have to climb back down the same way! But, the views up there were breathtaking . While there, be sure to stop at the hot cocoa store where you can make your own hot cocoa! During the tour we also got to see how the famous wooden clogs were made. We learned how the clogs came to be which was interesting and how there are different types of clogs- not just the yellow ones you often see in the stores. We even got to try some on!
We also got to go to Broek in Waterland, which was a nice, pretty, quiet town. It felt like we were hours away from the city because of the stillness and quietness, but it was only 15 minutes away from Amsterdam! We walked around the town with Tol and afterwards, did a couple of Dutch Schnapps tasting in front of a small lake. It was a great way to end the day before driving back to Amsterdam. Tol did a wonderful job as our tour guide. He was very easy to talk to and he allowed us to go at our own pace- we never felt rushed. He gave us educational information about the Dutch culture and at the same time gave us an experience to remember! Definitely give this tour a try!

My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed this trip to the villages outside of Amsterdam. We were a little wary about having to take the ferry across since we had to find the station but the ferry station was easy to find right outside Central Station, off to the right of the pedestrian/bike walkway and the ferry came every 3-5 minutes. The free ferry ride was quick and once we were across, the meeting point at the Cafe was directly right in front and our guide Tol can’t remember his full name was already there waiting for us. We wanted a drink at the Cafe, which only accepts credit cards, and Tol offered to pay with his card and we’ll pay him with cash. Tol was awesome, very informative and allowed my sister and I to go our own pace we like to take lots of pictures. We ended up having our own private tour with him since our group was split into two groups one was a group of 8 friends and the other group- just my sister and I. Tol even helped two girls we met at Zaanse Schans because they got left behind by their tour group! He let them join our group so they can finish seeing the rest of the villages.
Our favorite was seeing the windmills and how they operate. We paid an extra 4 euros to be able to climb to the first deck caution: the stairs are very narrow and it was worth it because the view was beautiful. It was such a picturesque village! The demonstration about how wooden clogs are made was fascinating also. The clog maker explained to us the different meanings behind each of the different wooden clogs and we got to try our own! Tol even gave us a free personalized souvenir from this wooden clogs shop. The Edam cheese was very tasty! We wish we could’ve bought cheese but had to keep in mind our luggage weight limit. Volendam was also a nice and quaint fishing village where we had free time to walk around try some of the local food. We had the chance to go to Broek in Waterland where Tol did a small walking tour and at the end, we tried the Dutch Schnapps. It will warm you up on a cold day like we had!
This was a great tour to venture out of the city of Amsterdam and see how locals live. The villages were awesome and had amazing views- a lot of good photo opportunities everywhere! Tol was great- he was very knowledgeable, patient, and made our trip very memorable!

Great way to see some countryside outside of Amsterdam. Free ferry across to pick up point was easy and our guide was ready and waiting. The windmills were beautiful and the wind showed up to give us a look at the windmills in motion. Places to buy hot drinks and souvenirs, welcome on the cold day. Volendam was a wonderful surprise, quaint and interesting to wander around. Totally enjoyed the day.

This is a great 1/2 day tour option, I am not a ‘tour’ person, but wanted to see some of the smaller towns and this seemed like an easy way to do so. It was. It was even fun to take the harbor boat across the canal to the meeting point, in the am it gives a great sunrise view and when the tour finishes you can go to the Eye or the top of the building for a sky high view. Our guide was great, friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. His name was Toon I believe, great guide. We had rainy cold weather and he was quick to offer options and give us the best day possible. Really good driver and pointed out interesting things along the drive. It was a fun day and I would highly recommend this tour with this company, it is well laid out, not stressful or rushed for time, fun, informative and offers a good time in the cute, albeit touristy villages. but you are on vacation and are a tourist to enjoy it. Hans the wooden shoe and cheese maker is really funny and interesting.

Guide was excellent and went out of his way to make the tour personal. Only six of us on the tour so far superior to the big bus tours we saw, especially at the Zaanse Schans Windmills. Volendam was lovely and we could have spent more time there but the old villages were also enchanting and worth visiting. Loved the Dutch countryside!

We had a wonderful day on this tour! After easily negotiating the Central train station and finding our way to the free ferry with hundreds of other commuters, most on bikes!, we are picked up at the designated meeting place right on time.
It turned out that we were the only travellers that day, so we had a private tour for the day. Our guide, Roxanne, was terrific. She was very friendly, personable and knowledgeable about all the sights we visited. We never felt rushed nor pressured to visit or buy merchandise in the more touristy areas we visited. Roxanne kept an easy pace for the walking tours and is an experienced and careful driver.
We had a wonderful day in the bright sunshine and we were pleased to be away from the hustle and bustle of the city for a few hours. We wanted to see some of the countryside and this tour did just that.
Well done Roxanne!

This was an amazing tour and our tour guide Roxanne was fantastic!!. She was a good driver and provided us with just the right amount o
f history about Amsterdam and Holland. Her English was really good. It was really good to be taken to some of the small towns surrounding Amsterdam which I would have otherwise never had the chance to see. It was great to sample some local food and have a small drink at the completion of the tour. I would defiantly recommend doing this tour.

Choosing the small van rather than the large bus tour was PERFECT! The entire experience was relaxed, comfortable, and very personal. Our guide, Tom, could not have been more informative or responsive to our requests. Being in a group of 6 rather than 60 is definitely recommended! Climbed to the rooftop of working windmills, touched wooden shoes fresh off of the auger, sampled cheeses, wandered through the most quaint of Dutch villages, and so much more… loved the whole day! It was a fun tour. We saw the countryside which was a welcome change from Amsterdam. We got to see an old lumber cutting factory and a cheese factory. The host at the cheese factory was funny and amusing. Our guide was very good, and I was glad to be on a bus after 2 days of walking around Amsterdam. He explained how windmills worked and some sociological details of the various towns we visited. I enjoyed it more than I expected.

We were anxious at first to see the instruction of the meeting place Café Dupont. But it was not complicated just go to the back of Central station and take the ferry ,a minute ride and meet the group .It was a small group with 6 members. Our tour guide and driver Roxanne was very nice and vivacious. She is knowledgeable of the places we visited. Its so nice with small group because its quite intimate and all questions were answered. We had enough time , learned something regarding cheesemaking / clog making and enjoyed a beer party in Volendam. Experience Waterland is highly recommended.

It’s a great sampler of the countryside – once you get started. If you are used to getting picked up at your hotel for a tour, this tour’s starting location could be challenging. If you are staying in Amsterdam, you will need to go to the Central Station and take a ferry across the river. Be mindful that there are two ferries that don’t go to the same place. Once on the other side, you just need to wait to be picked up. We had problems using our phones and the cafe was closed so we just had to have faith we were in the right place and would be picked up. The tour itself was fast paced but with a good variety of sights, windmills, cheese, wooden shoes, a fishing village, etc. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable and we enjoyed the tour. If you go to the Netherlands, you should see some of the rest of it outside Amsterdam if you can.

Wonderful tour! Guide incredibly knowledgeable about the region and world geography. Won my vote, he honeymooned with his Bride in Outback Australia. Explained the areas well, in detail and colour. Went inside the spice and lumber working windmills – could spend the entire day inside on of these operational mills. Viewing logs being sawn utilising the wind is breathtaking. The operators are in
credibly inclusive and almost invite you onto the shop floor. Highly recommend this tour. Only minus is the pickup point. Whilst really easy to get to, nothing is open until the pick up time, so if you are early and the weather is horrid, there is nowhere to shelter.

This was an amazing tour, I love the small group size. It gave us flexibility and the ability to learn much from our knowledgeable Guide. Even though it rained on us a good part of the day, we would do it all over again.
If you would like to visit the windmills and see some of the villages and area outside Amsterdam choose this tour company. My Aunt and I did this tour today and had the best day. As it is a small group tour you get a more in depth knowledge of what you are seeing. We also got to visit a very quiet and beautiful village where there were no other tourists. If you choose these guys you will not be disappointed.

Enjoyed the small group, and our local guide who was very knowledgeable. Wished we had a bit more time for lunch as service was a little slow in the town and wait staff felt we were a bit rude in our haste to be back on time.
I enjoyed the more local areas and the walking tour through the small village. Would recommend for anyone visiting the area again. Was a nice pace for my elderly grandmother as not too much walking. The other family in our group was a little rushy, but that was in no way a reflection on our tour guide.

This was a great tour and definitely worth seeing. No wind what so ever so windmills were not operational but the location was just what we imagined. Volendam was a nice little lake town and the tour to watch how wooden shoes are made was the highpoint because of the narrator. I would highly recommend this trip. We were disappointed in the Shnaaps tasting. The guide had two bottles in the van along with small plastic cups and gave a couple of sips worth to everyone. Hardly worth the effort and cheapened the experience. But if you are prepared, you won’t be disappointed. But do take this trip and small group is a good way.

We had a great day on our small group tour– only four of us which was perfect! The trip to Zaanse Schans Windmills was most interesting and informative. It was so nice and relaxed, we just strolled along and learned a lot about the old village life and about the different windmills. We were able to talk with some of the millers and question what they were doing. The cheese factory trip and clog makingdemonstration were also very interesting. Our guide was great– lots of tidbits of information as we drove around. He has a perfect personality for the job and We really appreciated the way that he never rushed us and let us linger at lunch. It was wonderful to see the windmills, making of clogs, the countryside as well as the quaint little neighborhoods that we walked through. As it was a small group you didn’t have to struggle to see out the windows and snap pictures. The guide was fantastic… Good sense of humor and very very knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend.

The smaller group tour is definitely the way to go. Our guide Tund? was fantastic and took us places you’d never seen on the big bus tours. It’s so nice being in a small group where you can always hear your guide talking about the local attractions, history and stories of the places you are visiting. Plus being in a smaller group gave us extra time at all the sites. We loved this tour! I’d highly recommend it to anyone that prefers a personal experience with a knowledgeable and fun guide over the large group buses. Also…pay the extra 4 euros and go into the windmill that is producing the lumber. It’s very impressive to see a working windmill in action from the inside. 5 Stars!

The Driver/guide sorry forget his name is a handsome, professional, and very nice guy. He guided all scene we expected. The beautiful windmills and fish village. The guide offer us wine to celebrate our successful trip at the end of the trip.
Excellent trip with Apostley as our wonderful guide. Weather was a bit dull and misty to see all the views but overall excellent value for money. Wandered around windmills, visited cheese and clog making factory. Had local fish dishes for lunch and the icing on the cake was when our guide stopped, produced a picnic hamper with schnapps and local biscuits! Excellent
The tour was very well organized and or guide was great. Pick up was very smooth and the locations we visited were great. The summer rush was starting so crowds were around but our guide knew how to work around them. I would recommend this group as the trip was well worth the money.

Excellent selection of destinations and very good knowledge guide. A small group has the advantage of in-person get all the information you need. Only recommend a longer retention in Volendam which is beautiful. Wine tasting national drinks on the lake shore was a very pleasant experience.

What a great day!! Our guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his region. The tour itself was well planned and gave us plenty of time to have a good look around. The small group aspect of the tour is one of the best parts. Your get a better feel on the tour rather than being herded on the big bus.

We had a wonderful time on this tour. It was a small group so we were able to ask questions and received good information about the areas we visited. Just a note, you do need to pay 4 to get into each windmill, but well worth it. The schnapps at the end of the trip was a nice ending to the tour. Our tour guide was the best!

This tour was fantastic. There was only 4 of us so it felt like a personal tour. Tol explained all the history on the windmills at Zaanse Schans. Pointing lots of things along our way. He is such a wonderful, local guide. Tol took us to the best place in Volendam to try eel, which was surprisingly nice. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone. Thanks Tol.

Very nice tour, small group just like our own private tour. Our guide is friendly and share with us a lot local story. We are unlucky due to the bad weather, however the whole journey is pleasant due to our good and amazing guide.
Thanks to Apostolis for going extra mile to help us solve the hiccup that we face in Amsterdam.

This tour was by far better than we could have imagined. Tol was probably the best we’ve ever had. There were just two of us, but it was wonderful. The sun was shining and the Windmills in Zaanse Schans were stunning. Volendam was such a picturesque little village we hated to leave. We saw the beautiful Dutch countryside and stopped on a dike to sample a wonderful Dutch drink. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone. The fact that it is a small group tour guarantees you more personalized day. We will definitely be back and will do this all over again. Fabulous isn’t even a good enough word to describe our experience!

What a fantastic tour! Our guide, Apostolis sp? was so knowledgeable and charming and gave us a great look into the Dutch countryside with great history facts and tips on what to see/eat/do around the area. We loved being able to see a different part of the Netherlands outside of Amsterdam, and even on a rainy day, the windmills and little villages were an incredible site. The small group made the tour feel very personal-we loved every stop!

It was raining, cold and windy on our tour day but that didn’t stop our guide from delivering a fantastic tour through the windmills and historical villages. Included in the tour we watch wooden shoes being made and tasted some delicious cheese. A lunch stop over at a charming local waterfront restaurant provided a nice warm up with a hearty bowl of pea soup with sausage and bacon. Highly recommend!

There were only 4 of us in this tour and it was really personalised! The tour was informative and fun. Highly recommended.

February 2017 This small group tour was the highlight of our trip to the Netherlands. Our tour guide, Tol, I believe his full name was Apostoli was fantastic. He was patient with our group of eight and took the time to answer questions as they came up. He shared a lot of his personal experiences with us and balanced our time as we requested. We took this tour in November 2016 and I recommended it to friends who visited Amsterdam in early January 2017. They were fortunate to have the same guide and were so appreciative to have found this opportunity to learn more about the Netherlands from this tour.

One of the best excursions we did when we are in Europe. We enjoyed the whole day with our Guide. He was very interesting.. Also friendly and flexible. He had good knowledge about what he was talking about… Comfortable vehicle too.
January 2017
This was an outstanding tour. We were provided a great experience, our guide was very knowledgeable and most accommodating. Highly recommend to all.
January 2017
Can and #39;t say enough good. Small personalized attention far better than previously taken big bus tours in area that take you to their own owned stores. This in contrast took us to all locally owned sites like cheese and clog making. Easy to get to across river. Ferry free and only several minutes.
January 2017
The tour was fantastic! We were the only ones in the group, our guide was very knowledgeable, flexible, and eager to show us the gems of Netherlands. We learn and enjoyed a lot!

This may have been the coolest tour I have ever done! Our tour guide Apostilis was extremely nice and was willing to go out of his way to make sure we enjoyed the tour. I would highly recommend any of his tours and cannot wait to come back in the summer to see more of Holland with him.

A great tour cover north of Amsterdam which cover Zaanse Schans Windmill, Volendam and Marken. It was easy to follow the direction to the meeting point. Our tour guide is very friendly and knowledgeable in which we learnt about culture and traditional life the Dutch countryside. He also allow just right time to stay in each location. Highly recommended tour.
December 2016
This tour was great, we had been to Amsterdam many times but never ventured north. There was only one other couple on the tour, so it felt like we booked a private one. Our tour guide was full of knowledge and great to talk to. We had a really good time!
Personalised small group tour of the Dutch countryside run by the charming and knowledgeable owner Apostolis, including the Zaanse Schans windmills and Volendam. On route you will also stop at a local clog/cheese making outlet which is very interesting were goods can be purchased.

Great to cover north of Amsterdam in half a day. Was the only 2 participants so it became a private tour. Guide Apostoli is knowledgeable, funny, and friendly. Visited Zaanse Schans windmills, very charming. Went to cheese farm and klompen factory and did the traditional costume photo-shoot in Edam – great variety of cheese, there’ll be a couple which should suit your taste. In Volendam, tasted great seafood – raw herrings and fried cod cubes are must-try at much lower price compared to Amsterdam central. Given extra tour to Monnikendam for additional snack stops and drive-bys tour.
We did this tour and Mrs Mariel was our guide. There were only 6 of us and Mrs Mariel was a wonderful and very friendly guide. She ensured that we were very informed and took the time to ensure that we had a great day. We would recommend this tour highly.
Booked this company on viator, the idea of a smaller group was very appealing. On the day of the tour, we met Tuen (sp?) at the free ferry and one other couple joined us in his van. We went to Zaans Schans to see the windmills, explored some fishing villages and visited a clog/cheese making factory. It was an amazing…
Very interesting. I definitely recommend.

Our guide gave us an absolutely fabulous experience of the countryside. Highly recommend this small group tour!
August 2016
This Trip to the countryside was the highlight of our trip to Amsterdam. We picked a small group tour and luckily for us we were the only group as we were 5 of us. ApostleTall, picked us and took us on this tour of Zaanse Schans , Volendam and the countryside. He made the trip memorable with his knowledge, continuous chit chat and trivia facts. From Eel delicacies to clog making to dutch cookies, we covered it all. If not for the Europride parade, we would have had more time to see the other treasures around Amsterdam.Highly Recommend this experience.

This was an excellent tour run by Doun for 5 hours in the Dutch countryside. It was a pleasure to do a small group tour rather than a large coach as it was a great deal quicker to get in and out of e places we visited. Out guide was knowledgable and interesting and allowed just the right amount of time at each location. I’d highly recommend this tour.
August 2016
Our guide was prompt, very friendly, and shared great information. Small group means small group there was only one other couple with us, so the attention was fantastic, and a lot of surrounding area was fit into our small time together. We concluded the trip with a lovely toast of Dutch liqueur on the top of a dike. The whole trip was memorable and well worth it.
Great small group tour. Personalised, knowledgable and professional. Did not feel rushed and felt very welcomed. Highly recommend this type of tour in preference to a large bus tour.
July 2016
Our guide was wonderful! It was like a private tour with a local, lots of interaction with the guide, great sightseeing, flexible itinerary. I highly recommend!

This was an excellent trip! It was a small group with just 4 people so the guide was able to answer many questions we had as we visited each area. While there was a schedule, because we were a small group it gave us more flexibility as we went from place to place. When driving from one place to the next our guide told us a lot about the Netherlands – history, culture, food, etc. and he encouraged us to ask questions so we would learn more. Walking through a windmill was amazing. I highly recommend this trip!
June 2016
I picked up a flyer at a cafe in Amsterdam Central Station advertising a small group tour of Zaanse Schans, Volendan and Marken lasting 5 hours. Sensing something new and different we took a punt and were not disappointed. The sole operator and owner, Apostolis, drove us and another two clients in his van through some wonderful waterlands landscape and…

Skip the big bus and book this small tour. We were picked up promptly which was great since it was raining hard! Tol has a Volkswagen van that is nice and comfortable. We saw all of the things that the big buses saw but did not have to be in the big crowds. Tol is very accommodating and willing to stop or adjust the tour to your liking. He grew up here and is really knowledgeable about the history and the area. Book this tour, you won’t regret it.

This tour is a great way to see the picturesque villages many people associate with the Netherlands. This tour began in a super-convenient location just a quick, free ferry ride from behind Amsterdam Central Station. I’m really glad we got to see this other side of the area. The windmills were beautiful we even went inside of one and climbed to the top, and so were the fishing villages. We ate lunch overlooking the water. We were in a group of 5, and it is much nicer to have a small group like this. I definitely recommend this tour.
Small group and great guide. Tol will take good care of you and is flexible if you want to stop or stay longer. I would highly recommend this tour.
